Mission Statement
The Nashville Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advocate for victims of domestic violence by raising awareness in our community, strengthening existing services for victims and providing a forum in which systemic problems can be addressed with one cohesive voice.
What Is the Nashville Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NashvilleCADV)?
The Coalition is comprised of the following members: Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee, Behavioral Treatment Providers, the Metro Nashville Domestic Violence Division both counselors and detectives, You Have the Power, the Domestic Violence Intervention Center, YW Domestic Violence Program, The Mary Parrish Center, Vanderbilt Law Clinic, the District Attorneys Office both prosecutors and victim witness coordinators, Morning Star Sanctuary, and survivors of domestic violence.
The Coalition was formed over 10 years ago to respond to our community’s desperate need for collaboration. Soon after the creation of the Coalition, the Domestic Violence Division of the police department was created because of the many efforts of the members of the Coalition. The Coalition has hosted awareness events each year during domestic violence awareness month. We have gathered key players in the system in a roundtable on two occasions and as a result the courts have responded in a better way to the needs of victims and their children.
